World War II was the deadliest war in the history of mankind. More than 60 million people were killed. At the time, that was 3% of the world’s population.
Big reason for the many casualties were aircrafts, and bombing. Military bombing became popular during World War II, with the German army featuring one of the best air force, the Luftwaffe.
During World War II, German air forces claimed more than 70,000 aerial victories over the opponents. More than 25,000 of those came against British and American air forces. The United States of America had their own special air force unit, called 8th Air Force.
Who had the better air force? Germany or America? In the end, the United States claimed victory in the war. But was it because of their Air Force? This documentary compares both aerial forces, and shows strengths and weaknesses of the 8th Air Force and the Luftwaffe.
