Travel guide Schmuel Kahn and anthropologist Ali Qleibo come from opposite sides of the political spectrum when it comes to the Jerusalem question. But they both share an appreciation for Jerusalem’s rich cultural heritage. In this report, they guide viewers on a tour through Jerusalem’s Old City, where the holiest sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam coexist side by side.
Along the way, they meet Sarah, a German expat who has taken Israeli citizenship and makes a passionate appeal for a Jewish state. And they run into musician Muhammad Mughrabi, who believes that dialogue is the only way to bring an “end of hatred” between Israelis and Palestinians. This documentary offers a nuanced view of the complex issues at play in the debate over Jerusalem’s status, while also exploring the human stories behind the headlines.
