Gothic fiction, or Gothic literature, is a genre of literature and film that covers horror, death, and at times, romance.
Some of the notable elements of gothic literature include setting in a castle, atmosphere of mystery and suspense, fear, omens and curses, supernatural and paranormal activity, emotional distress, women in distress, an ancient prophecy connected with the castle and inhabitants, and more.
There are two main types of gothic fiction. One if Victorian horror, and the other is American gothic. We also have the modern horror.
