When Czech writer Karel Čapek first used the word “robot” back in 1921, he couldn’t envision that the fictional humanoid will get so far. In 1921, Karel used the word to describe a fictional humanoid. Since then, technology has evolved to a point that robots are literally “taking over our life”.
Soon, robots will be everywhere. Robots and living machines are breaking of laboratories and slowly stepping into our lives. The question many ask is whether robots will help us, or will they make us lives harder? Whether we like to admit it or not, robots are rising, and it is only a matter of time when they will become an integral part of our lives.
The documentary takes you through the history of robots, the way they are controlled nowadays, and some of the questions that the area of robotics is trying to answer.
For more robot history, we can point that the first programmable robot was invented in 1954 and was sold to General Motors in 1961. Named “Unimate”, the robot designed by George Devol was used to lift pieces of hot metal from die casting machines.
