Conor Anthony McGregor was born on July 14, 1988 in Dublin, Ireland. He is a mixed martial artist currently competing in the UFC’s Featherweight division and this is his story.
Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, McGregor competed in football and also began training at the Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin. His training began from an early age due to being frequently targeted by bullies. McGregor competed frequently in many boxing matches and won multiple titles.
In his later teens he began training MMA, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and freestyle wrestling with Karate, BJJ black belt (Ireland’s first BJJ black belt), and MMA competitor John Kavanagh and his team at SBG Ireland after finishing his amateur boxing career. McGregor has also trained in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Capoeira, and kickboxing in preparation for competing in professional MMA.
McGregor is a former CWFC Featherweight Champion and Lightweight Champion, which made him the first professional Irish fighter to hold titles in two separate divisions. As of September 29, 2014, he is ranking fifth in official UFC Featherweight list.
