In July 1969, the American spaceflight Apollo 11 made history by being the first spaceflight that landed humans on the Moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin were the first people to walk on the moon.
Since then, nations around the world have been trying to move a step further in their Moon missions.

In 2025, NASA has Artemis 3 scheduled for launch. It is planned to be the second crewed Artemis mission and the first crewed lunar landing since Apollo 17 in 1972. Artemis 3 should place the first woman and non-white person on the Moon.
