The Marathon Project is a program by the Council on Addiction Prevention and Education. It is a non-profit agency founded in 1987, with a sole goal to promote prevention and education services of Dutchess Country and neighboring areas.
The innovative distance running program pairs adult mentors and at-rick young people. They go on a running throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley.
The goal of the program is to reduce risk factors including childhood obesity, school dropout, substance misuse, and more through education and conversation.
The initiative allows students to set and achieve goals, explore avenues, develop their character, and improve their health, all while evolving as a positive character.
