Tesla Turbine | The interesting physics behind it

The Tesla turbine is a bladeless centripetal flow turbine patented by Nikola Tesla in 1913. It is a referred to as bladeless turbine. Back in the days, Tesla intended for this turbine to be used for geothermal power.
Tesla is one of the most famous and important inventors of our time. He made contributions to many fields, including the field of mechanical engineering.
The Tesla turbine is one of his favorite inventions. The turbine had a simple, unique design, yet it was able to beat the efficiency levels of steam turbines at that time.
Today, it is not used as widely because it has to rely on friction interaction between a smooth surface and a fluid. This weak friction does not create very high torque, making the Tesla turbine useless for applications that require high torque.
