Farmers in Switzerland have revived an old local tradition of silk production, giving rise to sustainable fashion. In this upcoming documentary, Ueli Ramseier, co-founder of the ‘Swiss Silk’ association, shares his journey of breeding silkworms and growing mulberry trees to produce silk again in Switzerland.
Initially, Ueli Ramseier started breeding silkworms in his bathroom, but now he has over 12,000 silkworms in his garage, supplying not only fashion companies but also medical firms with his silk threads. Swiss fashion designer Rafael Kouto’s Swiss Design Award-winning collection, designed using sustainable Swiss silk, has put the spotlight on Ueli Ramseier’s work.
