The new Arizona Cardinals stadium is radically different from all its predecessors given its “Starchitect” design by Peter Eisenman, the “pie-slice” construction method which has been engineered to keep costs to a trim $350 million, the cool steel-ribbon gift wrapping, and not to forget the fact that it is North America’s first slide-out tray field.
The Super Bowl in 2008 was hosted by the showcase stadium making it a new icon for Phoenix, Ariz, and football fans all over the world. The NFL is betting that the Cardinals’ stadium will help re-brand the woeful Cards as a winner, and kick-start a new era in sports stadia – away from the wistful feel of baseball parks and edging towards the future.
