The people of Jebel Marra in Sudan have been living under the relentless onslaught of military attacks for too long. Located in the heart of the Darfur region, they are isolated from the rest of the world, relying on their meager mountain resources to sustain themselves.
The people of Jebel Marra drink from the mountain water and eat the sweet fruits that grow around them. Their cattle graze on lush grasslands, but still struggle due to lack of adequate nutrition and water. With every passing day, their situation seems to be worsening by the minute – as their resources diminish and access to medical care is nearly nonexistent. In addition, food insecurity has become a serious problem as supplies shrink with each attack launched against them.
Despite all this hardship, their unwavering spirit and tenacity remain intact; a testament to their resilience amidst adversity. To recognize this strength amidst tragedy, a documentary was made about Jebel Marra’s plight entitled ‘Sudan – The Unseen War’. This poignant film gives an inside look into life in Jebel Marra, as well as highlighting other stories of conflict within Sudan. It serves as an eye-opening reminder that we must not take peace for granted, and hope that one day these brave souls will receive much needed relief from these unimaginable atrocities.
We invite you to watch ‘Sudan – The Unseen War’ and learn more about how we can help those suffering in this corner of Sudan that remains largely unseen by most of us. We hope it will serve as a call to action for everyone who is moved by what they see in order to support those who need our help most right now in times of adversity and war.
