Black Lives Matter was founded on July 13, 2013. Since then, the movement has been in the news constantly.
Black Lives Matter is an international activist movement, originating in the African-American community that campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people.
You might think that Black Matter Maters organizes protests only in towns with majority of black residents. But that is not the case. The organization has organized a protest in every major city in America, even some out of solidarity.
Protesters have disrupted campaign events and forced politicians to grapple with radioactive questions of race and justice. In 2015, they confronted both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. During the campaign, they pushed Clinton for 90 minutes about sweeping investments in cities with majority of black population and so on.
This year, the movement will celebrate its 5 years anniversary. Their challenge is turning protest into a change that will last for years.
