Shaul Ladany survived the horrors of the Holocaust by running away as a child. From that moment on, running became a central force in his life. He went on to become an Israeli Olympic team member and witnessed the 1972 Munich hostage-taking by Palestinian terrorists, surviving once again because of his speed and agility. Now 81 years old, he continues to run and takes part in the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen in the Netherlands.
In a new documentary, DW reporter Axel Rowohlt accompanies Ladany as he reflects on his life and shares his story with the world. The film takes viewers on a remarkable journey, revealing how running has shaped Ladany’s life and helped him overcome unimaginable adversity. Through his determination and love for the sport, Ladany proves that no obstacle is insurmountable and that the human spirit can endure, no matter the odds.
