Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas. It was formed in 1981 by the Abbott brothers, drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell. Other members at the time were Terry Glaze and Tommy Bradford.
The band soon replaces Bradford with Rex Brown. The vocals change when the band turns to heavier sound and Phil Anselmo joins in. The problems for the band begin in 1995 due to Anselmo`s drug problem. The definite breakup happened in 2003 and was initiated by the Abbot brothers.
They form their new band called ‘Damageplan’, while Anselmo and Brown start working together on a new project; a band called ‘Down’.
