It was seen as one of the greatest scientific achievements of our time, an advance that could usher in a new era of medicine. A decade later, the entire horizon is how close we are to the development of life-changing treatments that were expected.
Horizon follows three people, each with a genetic disease, because they go behind the scenes of some of the laboratories of Britain’s leading research to find out what the human genome sequencing has done for them – and the hope of this extraordinary project offers all of us.
