Mermaids The Body Found: Are Mermaids Real?

In folklore, a mermaid is an aquatic creature with the head and upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Mermaids appear in the folklore of many cultures worldwide, including Europe, Asia, and Africa. Mermaids are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drownings.
One of the earliest mentions and legends about mermaids appeared in Syria around 1000 BC when the goddess Atargatis dove into a lake to take the form of a fish. Since the Gods there would not allow her to give up her great beauty, her bottom half became a fish, and she kept her top half in human form.
But are mermaids real? After marine biologist Dr Brian McCormick stumbled across mysterious underwater sounds during a recording, he launched a big scientific investigation to try and uncover what creature was producing these sounds.
As he pieces more parts of the puzzle together, he concludes that this marine creature could be related to humans.
