In a multi-faceted documentary, DW tells the stories of ordinary people striving to make their communities better. The film covers four stories in different parts of the world, each dealing with a pressing issue.
First, there’s the inspirational tale of a girl in a village outside Delhi who’s aiming to change her family’s fortunes by working to raise literacy levels in her community. Then, we follow the story of Natalia, who found freedom in dance in Russia, a country where LGBTQ+ individuals often face severe discrimination. Next, we see how young refugees are connecting with German teens through their shared passion for musical theater in “Flying High.” Lastly, the film shines a light on the serious problem of plastic waste in Sao Tomé and Principe, off the west coast of Africa. The documentary shows how a local initiative is engaging the entire population in finding solutions.
