Gothic movement was a style of art, interior design, and more starting in the 12th century AD. It was led by concurrent development of Gothic architecture. It started in Northern France out of Romanesque art, and then spread to all of Western Europe.
Gothic fiction, sometimes also called Gothic horror in the 20th century, is a genre of literature and movie covering horror, dearth, and at times, romance.
While Gothic fiction and horror appeared many centuries after the original Gothic movement, there are similarities. The former draws inspiration from the latter.
