CSCL Globe is the largest container ship in the world. It is owned and operated by China Shipping Container Lines. It is the first of a class of five ships designed for Asia-Europe trade routes.
CSCL Globe was launched for the first time in November 2014. It has a capacity of 19,100 twenty-foot containers. And that is just amazing. The ship measures more than 400m in length.
The ship was designed to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce noise and carbon dioxide emissions. The service speed is 20.5 knots, while the maximum speed during sea trials goes up to 22 knots.
CSCL Globe left Shanghai, China on her maiden voyage in early December 2014. She arrived at the first port of call, Felixstowe, England, on January 7, 2015.
In January, the ship was also superseded as the world’s largest container ship by Mediterranean Shipping Company’s MSC Oscar.
