In July 2021, the Ahr Valley in Germany was hit by some of the worst flooding the region has ever seen. Five months on, thousands of houses were left uninhabitable, many of which are facing the challenge of living without adequate heating. As winter sets in, the rebuilding efforts are still far from over.
In this documentary, viewers will be taken on an emotional journey witnessing the resilience and determination of people like Nils Görres, who work for a heating and plumbing company in Altenburg, one of the towns destroyed by the floods. Despite the added challenge of supply chain shortages, Nils and his colleagues are doing their best to help repair damages and to provide as many flood victims as possible with a functioning heating system for the winter. This immersive documentary shines a light on the spirit of community and the human capacity for hope and compassion in times of crisis.
