The Moroccan Oases are in trouble. Desertification and droughts due to climate change are leaving their mark on these palm-fringed settlements. An age-old way of life is at risk, threatening the survival of a whole region populated by close to two million people.
Meet Halim Sbai, a native of M’hamid El Ghizlane, where the oasis is turning into a gold-brown desert. But he is not ready to give up yet. In his bid to keep the oasis alive and the region’s traditional way of life intact, he is planting new palm trees, preserving precious water, and supplementing his income with earnings from tourism. However, global warming could put an end to all of this. Follow Halim’s journey and the fight for survival in a desert paradise in this upcoming documentary.
