Syria’s war has forever changed the lives of millions. According to the United Nations, 1.5 million Syrians have been left handicapped, with over 80,000 having undergone limb amputations. Among the many victims is Majida Al-Omar, a 10-year-old girl who lost her right leg to an airstrike in east Aleppo.
Majida’s harrowing journey to get back on her feet is the subject of “Children of War: Majida Learns to Walk Again.” This documentary, reported by Julia Hahn, tells the story of one child’s resilience and perseverance in the face of unimaginable adversity. We see the moments that haunt Majida and her family, the daily struggles she still faces with her prosthetic leg, and the hope that keeps her going. “Children of War: Majida Learns to Walk Again” is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, and the often-surprising strength of those who have suffered most.
