In order to mark the 70th anniversary of People’s Republic of China, the country built the largest airport ever. China is no stranger to record-breaking projects, but now they completed one of the largest airports ever conceived.
Daxing International in Beijing cost $11.4 billion, and there are flights to 112 destinations across the world. According to China, they expect 45 million passengers to transport the airport in 2021, and rise up to 72 million travelers by 2025.
Just imagine this for a second. The location is placed on a surface equal to 100 soccer fields. The shape of the airport is in the form of sea star, allowing travelers to get to the most far away gates in no more than 600m, or for just eight minutes.
