The Boldt Castle is a major landmark and tourist attraction in the Thousand Islands region of the US state of New York. The landmark is open to guests between May and October.
Located on Heart Island in the Saint Lawrence River. The castle was built by George Boldt, the general manager of the Waldorf-Astoria hotel. His family enjoyed an earlier frame cottage on Hart Island for several summers. But he greatly expanded on that.
He launched his campaign to build the castle in 1900. His idea was to build the largest private home in the United States. The result is the huge masonry structure known as Boldt castle. Take a look at it.
