Born Robert Nesta Marley, Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, musician, and songwriter. Considered one of the pioneers of reggae, his musical career was marked by fusing elements of reggae, ska, and rocksteady, as well as his distinctive vocal and songwriting style.
During his lifetime, he achieved great accomplishments, including serving as a world ambassador for reggae music, earning induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and selling more than 20 million records.
He was the first international superstar to emerge from the so-called Third World.
Marley passed away in May 1981, saying Money Can’t Buy Life to his son Ziggy. Those are some of the most memorable final words in history.
