In Europe, there is a global illegal trade in dogs and puppies that is a billion-euro business, comparable to arms and drug smuggling. The majority of smuggled canines come from Romania, with most buyers living in Germany. These animals are usually unvaccinated and sick, having been kept in horrific conditions during illegal transportation.
Despite strict EU regulations requiring implanted chips with mandatory vaccinations and previous ownership, this data is easily falsified by the dog mafia. But one volunteer animal welfarist, Stefan Klippstein, has made it his mission to put an end to the dog mafia and their operations. Follow his story in a documentary by Lavinia Pitu, as he fights to put an end to this inhumane practice and save the innocent animals caught in the crosshairs.
