The American frontier, or better known as the Wild West or Old West, includes the geography, history, folklore, and cultural expression of life in the forward wave of American expansion.
It began with European colonial settlements in the early 17th century and ended with the admission of the areas as states in 1912.
The period between 1860 and 1890s gave birth to the era known as The Wild West. This period laid a foundation to its ensuing mythology. The era included cowboys, Indians, pioneers, gunslingers, and much more.
The Wild West is not really gone. It might not be the same as in the 1800s, but there are plenty of towns left that got that similar feeling and vibe. This documentary takes a look at the history and timeline of the Wild West.
