Aaron Hillel Swartz was born on November 8, 1986 and died on January 11, 2013.
He was an American computer programmer, entrepreneur, writer, a political organizer and Internet ‘hacktivist’ who was involved in the development of the web feed format RSS.
Swartz was also involved with the Markdown publishing format, the organization Creative Commons, the website framework web.py and the social news site called Reddit in which he became a partner after its merger with his company called ‘Infogami’.
He tragically ended his life while facing a controversial prosecution for intellectual property theft.
