A New Way to Achieve Nuclear Fusion: Helion

Nuclear fusion is a reaction in which two or more atomic nuclei are combined to form one or more different atomic nuclei and subatomic particles. The difference in mass between the reactants and products is manifested as either the release or absorption of energy.
For many years, scientists around the world have been trying to come up with a way to create nuclear fusion. According to some theories, we cannot expect fusion to play a major role in power production before the 2060s or 2070s.
But have scientists come up with a new solution? Is this a major breakthrough?
How safe is nuclear fusion? The process is inherently safe. For one, it is a self-limiting process. If you cannot control the reaction, the machine switches itself off. And no, nuclear fusion cannot destroy the Earth.
