Almost everyone has seen the Godfather. If not, heard about it. But how much do you know about the movie?
Most of the things people do not know is how Francis Coppola and Paramount pictures fought. There were troubles regarding the script, the actors, and basically almost every scene.
Coppola had a script that was much longer than the one that made it to the movie. Paramount wanted a shorter movie, and Coppola had to fight for almost every scene he wanted in the movie.
In the end, we got one of the best and most popular movies of all time. The Godfather ended up with 11 nominations for Oscars, and won three of them. The movie won Oscar for Best Picture, Best Actor (Marlon Brando as the Godfather), and Best Writing Adapted Screenplay.
Coppola was nominated for best director, and Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and James Caan were all nominated for best actor in a supporting role.
