Hacking is the process of gaining unauthorized access into a computer system, or group of computer systems. This is done through cracking of passwords and codes which gives access to the systems.
The access to a password is obtained by the hacker through password cracking algorithms programs.
Nowadays, there are three types of hackers are the white hat hacker, the grey hat hacker, and the black hat hacker. Each type of hacker hacks for a different reason, a cause, or both. All have the required skills needed to accomplish their mission.
Any time a person hacks into a computer without permission, a crime is committed—even if the person doesn’t steal information or damage the system.
For example, the federal government has enacted the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA). Many states have enacted their own counterparts to the CFAA.
