Fereshta Azimi is an Afghan woman making a big difference in the overcrowded Moria refugee camp. This camp, home to over 20,000 people, faces extreme conditions due to its limited resources. Nonetheless, Fereshta has found a way to give back and help others. Every afternoon she teaches English lessons in order to help other refugee women regain their self-confidence.
Though her efforts may seem small in comparison to the overall issues within the camp, they are still of great importance. Unfortunately, many of these women find themselves stuck in a transit space far from their homeland while they wait for residence permits for European countries – a process which can last months or even years. During this time, speaking English can open up doors and opportunities for them that would otherwise be unavailable.
Fereshta’s story is documented in the documentary “A Taste of Home.” Through interviews with refugees and footage from inside the camp, viewers are able to experience what life in such a difficult location is like as well as how Fereshta’s work helps those living there survive and thrive. It’s an inspiring story about finding hope amidst darkness and a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact on others’ lives.
We encourage everyone who wishes better understanding of the situation facing Moria refugees to watch this short film and learn more about Fereshta’s powerful work. Her dedication provides hope for all those struggling within the camp as well as insight into how little things can make all the difference when it comes to improving lives.
