The remarkable story of 9/11 survivor Tania Head is one that will stay with us forever; a tale of courage, tragedy and ultimately, hope. On the morning of 11th September 2001, Tania was working on the 78th floor of the south tower when disaster struck. Despite this horrific event, Tania was able to escape with the help of Welles Crowther – a volunteer firefighter who is credited with saving over a dozen people that day before losing his own life in the attacks. Sadly, Tania’s fiancé was amongst those who perished that fateful day.
Tania’s incredible story has since been documented in several films and television documentaries, including ‘The Woman Who Wasn’t There’, which focuses on her survival and journey to overcome her immense trauma. It also details her journey from having no memories of Welles Crowther to discovering his identity years later and paying respect to his bravery. Her amazing story is an inspiration to many; highlighting how even in our darkest hours there can still be hope and strength when we come together as a community.
This inspirational tale of heroism and resilience will be sure to move its viewers so if you haven’t already seen ‘The Woman Who Wasn’t There’ we highly encourage you to do so now! Not only does it serve as a reminder of all those impacted by 9/11 but it also shows us how far we have come since that tragic day almost 20 years ago.
